Therme Erding

Biophilic design in the spa area at Therme Erding thermal baths

What were the challenges, and how did we come up with a solution?

The renovation of a section of the Therme Erding thermal baths was based on the principle of biophilic design – an approach that consciously incorporates elements from nature into the space and creates a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Architecture, materials and greenery come together here to form a coherent spatial concept

The challenge was to design functional elements such as planters, columns and wash stations in such a way that they blend in with the organic design while also meeting the requirements of a popular spa facility. By using solid surface material, we were able to create precisely formed, seamless surfaces that would also be durable enough to withstand constant use.
