Paxmann kitchen counter
A sculptural designer kitchen island feature made from solid surface material
What were the challenges, and how did we come up with a solution?
When the kitchen takes on a sculptural form, the boundaries between function and design become blurred. The aim of this project was to create a kitchen island that is not just used, but offers a fuller experience.
Cornelius Paxmann’s design deliberately creates a sense of suspense: an extremely fine base supports an extensively cantilevered worktop, creating an impression of floating lightness.
This extraordinary design was brought to fruition through precise technical implementation involving integrated steel supports. The HI-MACS® solid surface material in alpine white enhances the clean, sculptural design style with its semi-gloss finish.
