Marriott Hotel Cannes

Dynamic façade cladding made from solid surface material for the JW Marriott Cannes

What were the challenges, and how did we come up with a solution?

As part of the refurbishment of the JW Marriott Hotel on the Promenade de la Croisette in Cannes, the building was given a striking, sculptural façade. The aim was to create an architectural design that conveys a sense of movement and lightness while also providing practical protection for the entrance area.

The challenge involved installing the curved façade elements with absolute precision and integrating indirect lighting along the awning. The use of solid surface material made it possible to produce the complex geometries of the façade elements with a high degree of dimensional accuracy and to combine them to form a rhythmic overall composition

What steps had to be taken to achieve this?

Rosskopf + Partner manufactured and installed the curved solid surface façade elements along the approximately 85-metre-long awning. The components were engineered, machined and prepared for assembly. The offset arrangement of the elements creates a dynamic interplay between light, shadow and reflection.

A dynamic facade architecture that combines shape, light, and material into a striking look for the hotel.
