Hanau’s Colourful City Library
Both large and small bookworms look forward to Hanau's new city library. Following the plans of Schrammel Architects in Augsburg, a colourful world of books was created in which personal encounters and advice are given top priority. Rosskopf + Partner was responsible for the manufacture and assembly of sophisticated service counters made of Avonite® solid surface material.
In total, ten different counter ensembles and additional seating and filing modules were designed and manufactured. In the foyer of the “cultural forum,” two attractive reception desks pick up the theme of the interior design with geometric shapes and fresh colours. Here the architects selected the solid surface material Avonite® in the colours "Mango" and "Ice White". In the upper level, visitors will find additional service points – all centrally located, such as at the foot of one of the tree houses or in the glass connecting bridge between the two building wings. Here the counter is executed in a stepped height and, thanks to the extendable seat, allows barrier-free access. Right next to it there are two self-service terminals that are connected by a projecting solid material counter. This is also placed lower and is wheelchair accessible.
