Quartz Material – The Revolutionary Surface Material

The contemporary surface material, quartz material, also known as quartz composite material or engineered stone, is ideally suited for kitchen worktops, table tops or as floor tiles.

Quartz Material - What is this?

The mixture of approximately 90% hydrogen, natural quartz stone (varies by manufacturer), colour pigments and polyester resin makes quartz material a revolutionary construction material that includes the positive properties of stone and even exceeds it in its functionality and resilience. On the Mohs scale quartz material has a higher hardness than stone. Even in care and cleaning, quartz material is easier to manage.

Which manufacturers of Quartz Material exists?

The market leader in quartz material manufacture is the Cosentino company with its brand Silestone® by Cosentino. But the brands like TechniStone®, COMPAC, diresco®, CaesarStone® and ZODIAQ® from DuPont are also known worldwide. In addition to the polished and matte surfaces, Silestone® by Cosentino also offers surfaces similar to volcanic rock. Thanks to the availability of various edge shapes and different material thicknesses, it is possible to manufacture the most versatile kitchen worktops.

Where and how do we use Quartz Material?

Other important and convincing characteristics of the material lie in its hygienic properties. Through the industrial production of quartz material, a surface is created, which fat and bacteria cannot penetrate. Therefore, it is not even necessary to impregnate or wax the surface. That makes this material ideal for employment in the kitchen, bathroom and especially in hospitals.

But quartz material is not only a high performance material because of its excellent quality. The fascinating variety of colours leaves no wish unfulfilled. Through the manufacturing process of quartz material and the homogeneous mixture of the components in the initial phases, an extraordinary colour consistency is ensured. Various types of finishes are also available: matt, polished and surface finishes similar to volcanic rock.
