High-quality Exhibition Furniture for the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion, Reconciliation

In the centre of Berlin there is a unique place for learning and remembering in the Deutschlandhaus (Germany House): the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion and Reconciliation. There, the foundation of that same name offers exhibitions, events, educational offers and research opportunities. A permanent exhibition extends over two floors with a total area of 1,500 square metres.

On behalf of Zeissig GmbH & Co. KG, we manufactured a significant part of the exhibition furniture for the subject of "Displacement and Expulsion of Germans" based on designs by Atelier Brueckner. The exhibits are presented in and on elongated light grey display tables. The tables are meticulously handcrafted from Avonite®, a very robust solid surface material. The plain colour Dove Grey blends in unobtrusively with the overall design and requires the highest level of precision in processing. The large showcase “Heimatstube” (homeland room), which rises notably in front of visitors, is particularly impressive. In addition, we produced exhibition platforms, benches and an altar-like back wall from a combination of solid surface material and MDF fibreboard.

"The schedule preceding the opening was tight. Within six months we manufactured and installed exhibition furniture from almost 900 square metres of solid surface material and over 1,000 square metres of wooden particleboard. There were a large number of interfaces to other trades that we always had to keep an eye on throughout the process; these included the lighting, the media to be installed, prints to be used, glass to be used, and so on.”
