Paxmann Kitchen Worktop made of Solid Surface Material
When it comes to serving culinary delights, "appearance is part of the dining experience". Design plays an increasingly important role even in the preparation – individually planned kitchen furniture is gradually replacing standardized kitchen units. For the designer Cornelius Paxmann, Rosskopf + Partner produced a sculptured kitchen island made of white solid surface material that vividly proves how unusual kitchen creations can be shaped by material and processing experts. The German Design Council has awarded this design the “Interior Innovation Award (Selection) 2014.”
The free-standing kitchen block attracts everyone's attention. While it appears to challenge the laws of physics, the 3.60 meter long base is just 14 cm wide, but it has a 91 cm cantilever worktop. This is made possible by the use of sturdy steel beams, which anchor the kitchen island securely in the floor. The imposing body is made entirely of the HI-MACS® solid surface material in the colour S28 Alpine White, whose satin-matt finish further enhances the elegant design.
