Futuristic Reception Counter for the ESO Supernova Planetarium
Next to the headquarters of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Garching near Munich, Germany, is the Supernova Planetarium and Visitor Centre. The building resembles a binary star system. In the entrance area, visitors are greeted by an imposing and futuristic reception counter. The triangular shape was chosen deliberately, because it is intended to be associated with the three properties: exogenic dynamics, tension and the mysterious.
The counter has a total area of 68 square meters and consists of 7 main parts and 7 corpora. There are a total of 230 individual parts that were fabricated using the solid surface material Avonite® in the colors Cloud and Brume.
