Service Counter for the Central Library in Düsseldorf
Culture Hotspot KAP1: After three years of renovating the former Postal Logistics Centre at the main train station, the central library in Düsseldorf has moved into a larger and more accessible establishment. As a meeting place, it not only invites you to browse, research and work, but also for visitors to actively exchange ideas. The central contact point includes three large service counters where several customers can obtain information and advice at the same time.
The linear counters made of solid surface material in the colour Super White are each embedded in a striking yellow frame construction reminiscent of freight containers based on the building's former function as a logistics centre. Each counter is barrier-free and consists of high and lowered areas that are connected by sloping surfaces with embedded flyer compartments. The solid surface material’s semi-matt, non-porous surface gives the consultation counter a high-quality appearance and is easy to clean. If book baskets, keys or other objects leave marks on the counter, it can be easily cleaned or refurbished.
