Porcelain Ceramic - The High-Tech material used in aerospace applications

Porcelain ceramic is an abrasion-resistant, completely scratch-proof porcelain surface material. The manufacturing process is similar to that of your china at home. Porcelain ceramic is a 100% natural product.

Originally, the material was developed for aerospace industry applications. Soon it was realized, however, that because of its excellent properties the material was also ideal for use in the construction industry, for furniture and interior decoration applications and in shipbuilding.

Due to its high degree of hardness, the material properties remain intact even after intensive use and frequent cleaning. Since no organic pigments are present, porcelain ceramic is absolutely resistant to ultraviolet radiation. Another advantage of the material is its low specific weight.

Brands and Manufacturers of Porcelain Ceramic

In the meantime, there are several known brands of this material. Since 2011, Rosskopf + Partner has marketed its own porcelain ceramic, selatec®, which is superior to the other brands in quality. The slabs are available in the sizes 3200 x 1500 mm (selatec®). For facades and walls, you can use 3 mm thick porcelain ceramic. For worktops in kitchens, bathrooms or in medical facilities, for example, you can use 12 mm thick or 3 mm thick porcelain ceramic strengthened with a layer of fiber material. In shipbuilding, this innovative material is suitable for use for various types of paneling and furnishings on the interior.

The material properties of porcelain ceramic include:

  • chemical-resistant
  • hygienic
  • fire-resistant and non-combustible
  • heat-resistant
  • frost-resistant
  • UV-resistant
  • scratch-proof
  • environmentally-friendly and recyclable
  • easy to clean
